Locality

Situated on Australia's eastern coastline, around 3 hours north of Sydney, lies a spectacular region of pristine lakes, stunning white beaches and magnificent National Parks.

Known as the Great Lakes District, it is rich in native flora and fauna and encompasses the area from Forster/ Tuncurry in the north down through Pacific Palms and Seal Rocks to Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest in the south. It extends westwards to Nabiac and Stroud and includes large sections of prime agricultural land.

Enjoying a mild climate all year around, the area has become a popular destination for both retirees and younger families seeking a relaxed lifestyle in an unspoiled natural environment.

Forster/Tuncurry are the 'twin towns' situated on opposite shores of Wallis Lake where the lake runs out to sea and they are both enjoying rapid growth as a result of their superb location. Tourism has also played a significant role in the twin towns development and tourists can choose from a wide range of accommodation and recreational facilities. Fishing, surfing and boating are all popular and the area enjoys some of the best scuba diving sites on the coast. Lawn Bowlers are well catered for and the area offers many other sporting venues including excellent golf courses, all weather tennis courts and an indoor sports centre with heated pool.

Just south of Forster and situated between the tranquil waters of Myall, Smiths and Wallis Lakes, is an extraordinarily beautiful area known as Pacific Palms. With sleepy villages dotted around the lakes and with National Parks surrounding, Pacifc Palms enjoys a relaxed tempo and is home to some of the best surf beaches on Australias east coast.

On Wallis Lake's western shores, the village of Coomba Park offers a quiet country lifestyle with easy boat access to Forster/Tuncurry and school bus services to all primary and secondary schooling. The village is surrounded by small rural holdings and many enjoy panoramic water views or direct frontatge to Wallis Lake waterfront reserve.

To the south of Pacific Palms, the village of Bungwahl is the 'gateway' to the magnificent Myall Lakes National Park and the classic fishing village of Seal Rocks. One of the few traditional fishing villages left on the coast, Seal Rocks is recognised as 'the last frontier' by the local residents, who cherish its history and simple lifestyle. With superb beaches, great fishing and a wide reputation as a dive site, Seal Rocks is a popular holiday destination.

From Bungwahl, the main road (The Lakes Way), winds around the top of Myall Lake and over the mountains to Bulahdelah, passing thorugh lush forest areas and rolling rural country to join the Pacific Highway. South of Bulahdelah are the the towns of Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest which are at situated a the southern extremity of the Myall Lakes system. Another popular destination for retirees, the Tea Gardens and Hawks Nest area is also enjoying rapid growth and it is just an easy drive from there to the city and services of Newcastle.
